We’ve got to take what we did (on Sunday) into Wednesday,” said McNeil to the Lancashire Telegraph.”Everyone was saying before the game get to the back post and you will get goals.”When it went in I couldn’t believe it. It was a great moment for me and my family.”At first I didn’t think it had gone in but when I saw it I was really happy.”It’s been a dream since I was a kid and now it’s come true.”When you’re in the playground as a kid you always dream about scoring goals like that and it was amazing to get one.”

zoom With daily advances in technology, it is unsurprising that the complete sensory experience that is ‘virtual reality’ has such an impact on our lives. No longer just a tool used to draw in the online gamer or consumer, this exciting piece of technology has started to influence, and enhance, the possibilities in ship design and construction. Imagine a one-stop shop for maritime engineering, where you can find all disciplines on Technical University and higher vocational education level, and be able to truly interact: Utopia for most ship owners.“The challenge is to break the stereotype of the shipbuilding industry being a traditional craft,” explains Cor Lettenga, Managing Director of DEKC Maritime B.V.“By utilising the easily accessible platforms accepted for modern day gaming consoles, our company has found a way to make our extensive knowledge more readily available to the shipbuilding and shipping market. Converting complete 3D ship models into a gaming platform means the client can literally ‘walk through’ their future vessel to experience the functionality of the design. They don’t require high-end computers, dedicated design software or viewers – simply any gaming console in combination with a virtual reality headset.”Evolutions in name and knowledgeInitiated in 1972 as an integrated detail-engineering department of a renowned Groningen manufacturer of steel building kits, the semi-independent engineering company launched as an independent divestiture in October 1990. After several name changes, they became DEKC (Design Engineering Knowledge Center) Maritime in July 2017.“The latest name change is due to change in ownership. With this turnaround, we were given the chance to supplement our scope – to allow for a one-stop shopping experience for maritime design knowledge, unique in the Netherlands. Offering the complete package of design, engineering and operational support services, our company is based on four pillars: Naval Architecture, Structural Design, Detail Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. We do not envisage growth, but rather promote stability, quality, and strong client relationships,” Lettenga added.Addressing the needs of the industry“Offering clients this convenient one-stop shop concept allows them to choose from a wide range of maritime engineering services, which even includes operational support for ships or offshore vessels/units already in service,” Cor Lettenga explains.“It’s what shipping companies, operators and ship owners are looking for. The benefit for the client is having a reliable partner, providing convenient and efficient services, saving them a lot of time and effort compared to visiting a separate institution for each area of need. It also gives them a sense of flexibility, having an ‘expert external co-maker’ available on call, whilst not having to invest in the expansion of their own resources.”All involved types of work and technical disciplines, including programme management, planning, and work preparation, are fully integrated and coordinated by DEKC. Clients benefit by having one point of contact and the process with all associated communication, is taken out of their hands. There are also savings to be made by investing in a total package from one supplier. In short: complete care.Experience the design functionalityLettenga summarises: “Virtual reality is developing fast, and in five to ten years it will be an integral part of people’s lives. We are already seeing these developments within the consumer markets for kitchens and cars. In modern day shopping, people want to walk around a real size, 3D kitchen set-up, and interact with objects. Likewise, when buying a car, it is very common that we use a car configurator.“These same technologies should become available in day-to-day shipbuilding practice, and we combine these modern technologies with the skills and craftsmanship of 45 years of experience. This expansion to a more customer-oriented way of working was made in the name of co-creation. Virtual reality engineering embraces 3D modelling tools and visualisation techniques as part of the design process. “Enabling people to view their project in 3D, and gain a greater understanding of how it works, gives ample opportunity to spot any flaws, or potential risks, prior to execution. With regular review at various stages to check for faults, structural weaknesses, and other design issues, virtual reality can assist throughout the entire design lifecycle – from initial concept, through to build, implementation and operation.”This article was previously published in Maritime Holland edition #4– 2017.,This article was previously published in Maritime Holland edition #4– 2017. read more

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will issue a single document combining the certificate and marksheet for class 10 board exams from this year onwards, officials said Tuesday. A decision in this regard was taken by the board’s examination committee and was approved by the governing body recently. “A single certificate at secondary level examination combining the language of the marksheet and certificate shall be issued for class 10 examination with effect from 2019,” a senior board official said. “The document shall be treated as a certificate and candidates shall have to fulfill requirements as notified by the board for obtaining a duplicate one,” the official added. Class 12 students will, however, continue to get separate documents for marksheet and certificate of examination. If a student has appeared for an improvement examination, he or she shall not be issued a separate pass certificate for that subject but only a separate statement of marks obtained, the official said. The board has also decided that from 2020 academic session, compartment candidates will be given three chances to appear for the examination, while candidates who failed will be allowed to appear for the examination next year and practical marks will be carry forwarded. “The affiliation bye-laws have been amended to incorporate the changes,” the board official said. read more
My, how things have changed. The last time the Ohio State men’s basketball team played Purdue, the Buckeyes were fighting to sustain what seemed like long-shot Big Ten championship hopes. The Buckeyes arrived in West Lafayette, Ind., at 1-3 in conference play. With four minutes remaining in the game, OSU was down 10 and facing the virtual death sentence of a 1-4 conference record. But the Buckeyes had other plans. They ended the game on an 18-4 run and stole a season-saving road win. It was the start of a nine-game, in-conference win streak that has left the Buckeyes tied with Michigan State for first place in the Big Ten.A month later, OSU (20-6, 10-3) and Purdue (21-3, 9-3) meet tonight at the Schottenstein Center in a game with heavy Big Ten title implications. The No. 9 Buckeyes have reached the AP poll’s Top 10 for the first time in three years. The No. 4 Boilermakers are right behind OSU in the conference standings, tied for third. If the Buckeyes expect to beat the Boilermakers tonight, they may need to do a better job of stopping Purdue junior Robbie Hummel. Although they survived the last encounter, Hummel torched the OSU 1-3-1 zone for 29 first-half points. It was not until coach Thad Matta assigned junior David Lighty to shadow Hummel that the Buckeyes were able to slow him down.As they have done all season, OSU will likely employ both zone and man-to-man defenses tonight, but their ability to stop Hummel will be crucial.“He’s a blue collar-type kid and he’s a great leader,” junior Evan Turner said of Hummel. “He can walk the walk and really set the tone for Purdue. He plays hard and he plays with a passion.”A Buckeye win would allow them to keep pace with Michigan State and keep their conference title hopes alive. Although most OSU fans will keep a close eye on the Spartans in the home stretch of the season, Matta said his focus is and always had been squarely on his team.“You’ve got to keep your focus on you,” Matta said. “I’ve been fortunate with some conference championships and my mind has always been the same. Let’s keep it on us and control the things that we can control.”This isn’t the first time his team has been in contention for a conference title. He led the Buckeyes to outright regular season titles in 2006 and 2007. However, with the exception of junior David Lighty, none of the players on this year’s team have been a part of those championship teams. For Turner, the opportunity is one that he and his teammates have embraced.“I definitely think about the opportunity, but at the same time I’m not really nervous,” Turner said. “You have to go in prepared, have confidence and have an attack mentality.”He and the rest of the Buckeyes know that all eyes will be on Columbus tonight. Considering what’s at stake, OSU’s battle with Purdue has the potential to be one of the year’s best games, not only in the Big Ten, but in all of college basketball.Like Turner, Lighty said his team knows what’s at stake.“It’s up to us,” Lighty said. “It’s in our hands to go and get the Big Ten championship.” read more
Following Borussia Dortmund’s recent wins, Peter Stoger seems to be betting on the old English adage, often heard in the football world – you should never change a winning team. However, the BVB manager refuses to completely disregard any opportunities that might come knocking on the door.“There is no reason to think about it and yet it always remains a consideration: how has the training been this week? What’s the opposition like?” Stoger shared, according to the official website of BVB. “We now have a large group and more possibilities to implement changes.”Report: Dortmund hammer four past Leverkusen George Patchias – September 14, 2019 Borussia Dortmund put four past Bayer Leverkusen.Borussia Dortmund leapfrogged Bayern Munich to claim second place in the Bundesliga. After handing out a 4-0 thrashing of…Although Shinji Kagawa is finally back from taking his time to rest and recover from an injury for the last two months, Stoger did not reveal whether he would risk putting him in the starting squad.“This season we’re yet to succeed in putting a run of two or three really good performances together,” reminded Stöger. “My hope is that we can continue from where we left off in the Leverkusen game. That means more of the same if at all possible. We’re now in a really decisive period. We missed an opportunity against Schalke but thankfully we beat a direct rival in Leverkusen. Now the task is to build on that in the next one or two weeks.” read more
